Chinese computer and smartphone manufacturer, Lenovo is planning to expand its smartphone sales into the USA within the next year, the company's CEO has announced.
Lenovo's CEO, Yang Yuanqing told the Wall Street Journal that smartphones represent a new growth opportunity for the company -- especially as conventional computer sales slow down thanks to the rise of tablets and mobile devices.
Although PC sales are weakening globally, Lenovo is still a strong player in the market and it recently posted a sharp rise in profits on sales of computer hardware.
"Smartphones are our new opportunity," Yang added, noting that the company sees the market as a source of longer-term growth. "As a public company you always have to consider how to grow."
